An indigenous woman who is relearning how to plant to fight hunger in her village; a professor who wants to transform the wounded peripheral landscape; a planter passionate about her more than 700 trees in the city are the protagonists of the series I directed for SESC in the context of the project Adopt a Tree. Anthropology ended up inevitable taking me to environmental causes. And it’s been absolutely wonderful to document so many positive agents on the planet. It has also been very important to witness that most of these avant-garde experiences are not located in the main capitals of the world. They are on the periphery. In the cosmology and practice of marginalized, excluded, neglected peoples and, it is **important to note**, threatened and murdered by those who, directly or indirectly, only have as a goal to enrich and destroy the planet with all its cultural and environmental diversity. The search for innovation to combat environmental problems is very important, but there is already an extremely efficient natural technology called “tree”.
It has been wonderful to raise awareness of my ecological footprint in the world. We are all part of this great web. Observe your consumption patterns, track the chain of things you consume and their impact on the environmental and social reality wherever it goes and, why not? plant trees 🙂

Uma indígena que está reaprendendo a plantar para combater a fome de sua aldeia; um professor que quer transformar a ferida paisagem periférica; uma plantadora apaixonada por suas mais de 700 árvores na cidade são os protagonistas da série que dirigi para o SESC no contexto do projeto Adote Uma Árvore. Há algum tempo que a antropologia acabou me levando para as causas ambientais. E tem sido absolutamente maravilhoso documentar tantos agentes positivos no planeta. Tem sido bem importante também testemunhar que grande parte dessas experiências vanguardistas não estão no seio das principais capitais do mundo. Estão na periferia. No arcabouço e práxis dos povos marginalizados, excluídos, negligenciados e, importante notar**, ameaçados e assassinados por aqueles que, direta ou indiretamente, só tem como meta enriquecer e destruir o planeta com toda a sua diversidade cultural e ambiental. A busca por inovação para combater as problemáticas ambientais são muito importantes, mas já existe uma tecnologia natural extremamente eficiente chamada “árvore”. 

Tem sido maravilhoso despertar a consciência sobre a minha pegada ecológica no mundo. Todos nós fazemos parte dessa grande teia. Observe seus padrões de consumo, rastreie a cadeia das coisas que você consome e o impacto delas na realidade ambiental e social por onde passa e, por que não? plante árvores 🙂
